Bumpstart has 6 room settings on display + loads of other cots and cotbeds. Several of our furniture suppliers offer a delivery and assembly service. Although there is sometimes a charge for this service, it is hassle free for you!

When choosing your furniture, think about the first four months of your baby’s life. You may want your cot or cotbed in your bedroom for easy access when feeding. These items will take up a lot of room (we speak from experience!). You could consider investing in a moses basket or crib. Perhaps the pram you choose has a carrycot suitable for overnight sleeping. The advantage of having a moses basket or carrycot is that they are easily transportable around the house, or if you are travelling. A crib is rather heavy to carry around with you, but a rocking or gliding crib can sooth a fractious baby, and your baby will be able to use them a little longer (approx 6 months).

Feet to Foot campaign

It is advised that your baby should sleep at the bottom of the cot/cotbed (so baby’s feet are at the foot of the cot!!). This will stop the baby moving around and getting right under their bedding, thus reducing the risk of suffocation or overheating.

Gro-Bags

A Gro-Bag is a low tog, well fitting sleeping bag which, when used correctly, is one of the safest forms of bedding for your baby. The baby has complete freedom of movement in the Bag, but the armholes and neck are designed to ensure there is no danger of Bay slipping in or out of it, provided there are in the correct size of sleeping bag for their age/weight.

Each GroBag comes with a room thermometer to help you select which tog rating (0.5tog, 1.00tog or 2.5tog) you should be using and what other sleepwear Baby might need to sleep safely at the right temperature during the night.

Gro-Bag is endorsed by FSID and meets all British Standards. It comes in a variety of sizes (0-6 month size is suitable from 7lb) all with cotton linings and various colours and designs.
